Cecilia Gaposchkin (Dartmouth College), “History, Liturgy, and the Formation of Christian France.”

Cecilia Gaposchkin received her Ph.D. in medieval history from the University of California at Berkeley in 2001.
She has taught at Dartmouth College, in Hanover NH, since 2000, and is now Professor of History and Chair of
the Department. She works mostly on the cultural and religious history of the later Middle Ages. In addition to
various edited volumes and translations, she is the author of the Making of Saint Louis(Cornell University Press
2018), Blessed Louis Most Glorious of Kings (University of Notre Dame Press, 2012), Invisible Weapons: Liturgy and
the Making of Crusade Ideology (Cornell 2017), and a book which is about to appear called Vexilla regis glorie:
Liturgy and Relics at the Sainte Chapelle in the Thirteenth Century (CNRS 2021). She is also currently the co-editor
of the Medieval History Series Medieval Societies Religions and Cultures at Cornell University Press. She was
elected a fellow of the Medieval Academy this year 2021.
