Emily is a 22 year old San Diego native. She recently graduated from University of San Diego with a major in History and a minor in Medieval and Renaissance Studies. Though broad, her research interests center around the Late Antique/Medieval world. She is fascinated by legal, economic, and "bottom up" social history. In particular, Emily is interested in how these lenses apply to border regions such as the Mediterranean and Volga. Additionally, she took several classes regarding public history and digital humanities as an undergrad, and she would like to continue studies in those fields. Emily is excited to be at UCLA because of the amazing resources, including the CMRS and the Center for Digital Humanities. She is also looking forward to getting hands on with some of the archives and manuscripts housed at UCLA and other nearby institutions such as the Huntington Library. When Emily is not buried in books, she loves to do anything and everything outdoors and at the beach. She also enjoys poking around in vintage/thrift stores, reading bad paperback mystery novels, and anything related to fantasy or sci-fi. Fun Fact: Emily have been playing the trumpet for 12 years and even spent 5 summers touring and competing in Drum Corps International.
