Max Modiano Daniel is a doctoral candidate in the History department at UCLA. His dissertation explores how a "Sephardic 20th century" gave rise to newly emerging transnational, pan-ethnic, and culturally distinct Sephardic Jewish identities in Los Angeles and around the world. With the support of the UCLA Library and UCLA Special Collections, Max processed and organized the Sephardic Temple Tifereth Israel records in 2019. He has also served as director of ucLadino, a student-run Judeo-Spanish language study group that organizes an annual conference, and was a researcher for the Sephardic Archive Initiative at the UCLA Alan D. Leve Center for Jewish Studies.
