We're excited to share that Dr. Nana Osei-Opare, an esteemed historian, is now part of Rice University's History Department and Center for African and African American Studies as an Assistant Professor in African History.
Nana Osei-Opare was an Andrew Mellon Fellow for Assistant Professors at the Institute for Advanced Studies, Princeton (2022-2023), and will be a 2023-2024 fellow at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.
His research covers various aspects, including Ghanaian and African history, Marxist-Leninism and socialism, labor and social history, global Black political and intellectual thought, and Africa-Soviet relations. His forthcoming book manuscript, "Socialist De-Colony: Black & Soviet Entanglements in Ghana’s Decolonization and Cold War Projects," reimagines Ghana's unique decolonization efforts within socialist and Marxist debates.
Dr. Osei-Opare's dedication extends to teaching and mentoring students, supported by teaching awards at UCLA and Fordham University. We congratulate him on this achievement and look forward to his contributions.
