Masayoshi has contributed a book chapter, entitled “You’re My Pin-up Girl!: The Politics of Jazz Fandom and the Making of Mary Lou Williams in the 1940s,” to an edited collection, Transpacific Correspondence: Dispatches from Japan’s Black Studies, edited by Yuichiro Onishi and Fumiko Sakashita (Palgrave Macmillan, 2019).  In the essay, he critically examines the relationship between jazz pianist Mary Lou Williams and her fan club.
