Miloš Jovanović co-edited “Empire Off-center”

Miloš Jovanovich, co-edited an issue of Cultural Studies (with Giulia Carabelli of Queen’s University, Belfast) entitled “Empire Off-Centre””, a special section in the anniversary issue of History of the Present (10:1).  The special issue brings together authors working on public memory, (dis)orientation and more-than-human legacies of empire, and is a complement to our special issue exploring the same concept presently out in History of the Present. To off-centre, the editors argue, is to focus on the electrifying force-field generated by the poles of imperial power, rather than oppose center and peripheries to subvert their relationship. In this issue, the contributors discuss zoos, ghostly fogs, orangutans, mana, cultural exchange programs and more. Miloš’ article: “Laudon’s Garden: Habsburg Legacy and the Warped Space of Empire” is one of the papers. The issue is Open Access for the next three months (according to Duke), and can be found at this link: https://read.dukeupress.edu/history-of-the-present/issue/10/1. The online-first articles will be appearing at this link: https://www.tandfonline.com/toc/rcus20/0/0.
