Soraya de Chadarevian Receives Life Sciences Excellence in Research Award

Soraya de Chadarevian has been awarded the Life Sciences Excellence in Research Award for tenured faculty for the book Heredity Under the Microscope.  The citation for this honor reads:  “In Heredity under the microscope Dr. Chadarevian takes us on the journey of the research on human chromosomes from the 1950s to the 1980s and beyond. She weaves a fascinating story connecting chromosomes as physical and visual objects to concerns related to the atomic era and to the study of sex, crimes, and heredity.”  This may be the first time a historian was honored with this award.  Congratulations to Soraya!

Professor de Chadarevian will be recognized at a virtual celebration of Excellence in Life Sciences prize ceremony on June 11th.
