Andrew Apter Receives Funding for Africa-Forward Initiative
Professor Andrew Apter has received two years of funding (2022-24) for “Quiet Revolutionaries: Digitizing the Jadeas Library Archive of Historians Who Transformed Africa, 1958-2007.” The project focuses on the personal papers of the late Professor Jacob F. Ade-Ajayi—cofounder of the Ibadan history school in the late 1950s—and documents the international network of African scholars who reshaped African historiography as a decolonizing project. “Quiet Revolutionaries” is supported by the Modern Endangered Archives Program at the UCLA Library with funding from Arcadia.
