Dr. Geraldine “Jeri” Alden Passes Away

We are sorry to announce that Dr. Geraldine “Jeri” Alden passed away on July 16, 2022. She earned her PhD with honors in Modern European History 1998 at the age of 67 with her dissertation “The Road to Collaboration,” and went on to found the Friends of History lecture series. The Alden-Berg Lecture, established in 2012 in the Department of History, is named for Jeri and her fellow distinguished alumna and friend of the Department, Barbara Berg. Devoted student of history and mainstay of the Friends of History group, Jeri contributed in manifold ways to the well-being of the Department.
