Professor Emeritus Richard Hovannisian Passes Away
We are saddened by the news of Professor Emeritus Richard Hovannisian’s passing. Richard was a prolific world leader in Armenian history who dedicated decades of his life to the UCLA History Department. He was the first holder of the Armenian Educational Foundation Professorial Chair in Modern Armenian History, now named in his honor. Professor Sebouh Aslanian, who now holds that chair, has written a fitting tribute to Richard’s many accomplishments. You can read the tribute at the link below.
We send our sincere condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and students. His work and spirit enriched our department, the UCLA community, and the worldwide Armenian community.
