Joshua McGuffie (PhD 2023) Awarded 2023 Norris Hundley Prize
Joshua McGuffie was awarded the 2023 Norris Hundley Prize for the best dissertation in the history of the U.S. West, Latin America, and the Pacific World in the Department of History for his dissertation, “Atomic Bodies, Atomic Landscapes: Making Fission Legible.” The committee praised the dissertation’s innovative approach to the study of science and culture in the nuclear world. Illuminating a “new atomic geography” in the South Pacific, the dissertation is a rigorous and innovative study that contributes to the history of technology, the Cold War, environmental science and public health.
