Professor Elizabeth O’Brien’s book, Surgery and Salvation: The Roots of Reproductive Injustice in Mexico, 1770-1940, received the 2023 Berkshire Conference of Women Historians Book Prize, for a first book that deals substantially with the history of women, gender, and/or sexuality.
