Yiming Ha and Andrew Klein Receive 2024 Dissertation Prizes
Congratulations to Yiming Ha (right), who has been awarded the 2024 Thomas E. Lifka Dissertation Prize for the best dissertation in the Department of History for ” Taming the Army: Military Mobilization, Empire-building, and the Mongol Transformation of China, 1264-1644 CE,” and to Andrew Klein (left), whose dissertation “The Water’s Edge: Empire, Race, and the Global History of Oakland, California, 1848-1980” was awarded the 2024 Norris Hundley Prize for best dissertation on the history of the of the American West, the interconnections between American overseas expansionism to the Pacific and beyond, Latin America, climate, or the environment of California.
