Biography
My research is focused on sea merchants, government officials, and diaspora communities in the history of maritime Asia from the eighth to twelfth centuries. I am particularly interested in maritime trade, the social history of merchants, connections between merchants and officialdom in various societies, immigration, and diplomacy.
